Tour Overview

With a combination of Namibia’s most scenic attractions and Cape Town, this trip will produce some of the most picturesque landscapes in all of Southern Africa. While in Namibia, you will travel by light aircraft for excursions to the great red dunes of Sossusvlei, the coastal town of Swakopmund, and the wildlife packed Etosha National Park. Afterwards, travel south for several days of relaxing in hospitable city of Cape Town. Spend your days exploring the city and the dramatic Cape Peninsula, while taking time to relax with some wine tasting in the Cape Winelands.

While in Namibia, you will be visiting each destination via light aircraft. This trip will begin with a visit to Etosha National Park, Namibia’s premier wildlife viewing destination and the largest salt pan in all of Africa. With plentiful window shopping, local restaurants, bars, and open air markets, you will then explore Swakopmund and the surrounding Skeleton Coast. Your final stop in Namibia will bring you to the country’s most visited attraction the dunes of Sossusvlei. Towering over 200 meters, you will have plenty of time to explore the dunes in the photographic paradise of the Namib Desert.

After your tour of Namibia, take pleasure in returning to the luxuries of civilization back in Cape Town, on the southwestern coast of South Africa. In this European-like city, you will be able to dive into the local culture and natural history with guided tours of the city center (including Table Mountain), as well as the highlights of the Cape Peninsula. Safari in Etosha

The park gates open at 6 a.m. for those that are keen enough for an early start. The open Land Rovers are ideal platforms for watching wildlife and in Etosha time can be divided between the waterholes which are always busy with thirsty animals and the open areas around the great pan itself. If planning to spend the day inside the park, either take a picnic hamper or stop at the small restaurant inside Fort Namutoni, a former German colonial outpost, which has become a tourist attraction. Get some exercise, visit the small book store and enjoy lunch in the courtyard of the fort. After lunch, take the trails around the eastern edge of the pan and look for species that frequent the open plains and pan fringe. The gates to Etosha close at sunset; transfer back to camp will depart before then. ...read less

et again I find myself compelled to thank Yampu for organising another amazing holiday for me

Yet again I find myself compelled to thank Yampu for organising another amazing holiday for me! As a solo female traveller venturing to Africa for the first time I wanted a company I could trust to look after me. That is why I chose Yampu. Having had a great experience with them in Central America it seemed sensible to see if they could help me again. I gave them my brief: Scenery, animals, horse riding suitable for an experienced rider and the chance to visit a wild animal charity . As I had hoped, they delivered on each and every count & gave me the BEST guide I could have ever wished for! From airport taxi pick up to drop off I was looked after impeccably. The accommodation was perfect and the brief about animals could not have been better fulfilled .My guide was an inspiration to be around & her ability to find wild animals was verging on mystic! Her in depth knowledge and obvious passion for all things Namibian was the lynch pin of my holiday and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Yampu are genuinely able to fulfill the customised brief you give them as opposed to cobbling together existing packages….They keep in touch throughout the process and I like the way they link in with local operators & guides as opposed to trying to take complete control. I have two regrets …1.I had to leave Namibia. 2. Yampu doesn’t quite cover the whole world (yet)!

We had an amazing time

We had an amazing time. Africa exceeded every expectation that we had. The weather was outstanding, the food was good. The guides (with the exception of Johannesburg) were great. I only wound up taking 687 pictures. I’m now trying to get these into my computer and into a file that I can send to my friends. They all want to see what we experienced. I have mentioned Yampu several times to friends, telling them how pleased we were with your services. We won’t hesitate to recommend you and Yampu in the future. Thanks for playing such a great role in making this a most unforgettable vacation.

It is difficult to put into words how much we enjoyed our holiday

It is difficult to put into words how much we enjoyed our holiday. We were both a little nervous having heard a number of negative reports about potential problems in South Africa, but we never felt ill at ease, and the people we met were all extremely friendly and helpful. The scenery is breathtaking, and we both want to go back and explore some more. Thank you again for organizing another fantastic holiday for us!
