Be in the know before you go
Brazil:
A valid passport is required to travel and should have at least 6 months validity after your return home. You should have at least 2 blank pages per country that you are visiting. If your passport does not meet this requirement at the time of departure, you can be denied boarding for your international flight and may consequently incur additional expenses.
A Brazil tourist visa is required for US citizens. Please check with your local consulate or embassy for application information and for last minute changes.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel alert for countries and territories where Zika virus has been found (Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela). If you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant, please consult your doctor before traveling to these countries. A Yellow Fever Vaccination is recommended (not required) for people travelling to Foz do Iguacu (Iguassu Falls), Manaus, Ouro, Preto or Belo Horizonte. Yampu is two for two! My wife and I recently returned from a fantastic two-week trip to Argentina and Brazil organized by Yampu's General Sales Manager Karolina Guilcapi. I typically set up our trips, but needed advice and help in these two countries. Karolina listened to our interests and put together an itinerary that addressed our every need and offered wonderful experiences, many of which I wouldn't have known about if doing this on my own. The guides were excellent; food (when provided) outstanding; and accommodations exceptional for our selected price range. She must have used some influence to obtain a spectacular upper-level corner room with small balcony for us at the Leme Arena in Rio affording sweeping views down beautiful Copacabana Beach.
