Tour Overview

Visit some of the iconic forts, palaces and temples in India including the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Amber Fort in Jaipur and the picture perfect lake palaces of Udaipur. With Jain temples, Mughal architecture and unique cities in between, you will have more than enough to fill your camera before ending your tour in the capital and spiritual center of Kathmandu in Nepal.

With an extensive list of cities to visit in India, this portion of the tour will begin in New Delhi, followed by Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and finally Udaipur. Including the majority of India’s finest attractions, each city offers its own unique sites. Including the aforementioned sites, some of the other highlights include the Megangarh Fort in the Blue City of Jodhpur, the old city in New Delhi and ancient Jain temples north of Udaipur, but the list doesn’t end there.

From Udaipur you will depart for Kathmandu, Nepal, via New Delhi. A spiritual center for Hindus and Buddhists alike, Kathmandu is an intensely urban area woven with narrow alleys, colorful markets and countless temples and shrines. Tour of New Delhi

Begin the morning tour of Old Delhi with a cycle rickshaw ride through the streets. Make a panoramic visit to the Red Fort, which was the most affluent fort and palace of the once reigning Mughal Empire. Then it’s on to Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. The final stop in Old Delhi will lead to Chandni Chowk (closed on Sunday), a lively and colorful market that was once the commercial center of the city.
Then drive to New Delhi, which will provide a stark contrast between the old and the new; a recurring theme throughout India. In New Delhi visit the India Gate monument, followed by the grounds of the Parliament House and other extravagant government buildings. Then continue to Humayun’s Tomb, built in honor of India’s second Mughal emperor. Later visit the world’s tallest brick minaret, Qutub Minar.

Note: Yampu recommend an optional tour (price not included) to enjoy a fine dinner at the Veda Restaurant, a lavishly designed nouvelle cuisine curry house that offers a fusion of traditional Indian food with a modern spin. A second option is a visit to Akshardham, a unique, yet stunning monument that boasts 234 elaborately carved pillars, 9 decorative domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars (towers of Hindu architecture), stone elephant sculptures, and 20,000 murtis (Hindu images portraying Divine spirits). Situated upon the banks of the Bagmati River, this is an important ritual and cremation site, as the water flows into the Ganges. India was amazing. Deb and I had such a wonderful time, and find it difficult to summarize the 10 days adequately in words. Everyone from the representatives, guides, drivers, and locals were helpful, informative, pleasant and kind. The sites and landscape of India were truly moving.
