RECIPE OF THE WEEK: The South African “Sundowner” Cocktail
As we’ve been raving about the “Sundowner” tradition that many of the Yampu Team have recently indulged in, we thought it was time to give you the chance to make your OWN “Sundowner”!
A term coined in the 1950’s, “sundowners” refer to the refreshing cocktail enjoyed after a long day at work (at sundown!). Evolving with the tourism of South-East Africa, “sundowners” are now a relaxing excursion that often follow and exciting day on a game drive.
Can’t make it to an African Safari as soon as you might have hoped? Well make your own exciting sundowner with this simple and tasty recipe!
South African “Sundowner” Cocktail
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
Cape of Good Hope Brandy – 1 ½ oz. (4.5 cl, 3/8 gills)
Van Der Hum Liqueur – ½ oz. (1.5 cl, 1/8 gills)
Lemon Juice – ¼ oz. (6 dashes, 1/16 gills)
Orange Juice – ¼ oz. (6 dashes, 1/16 gills)
Your preferred cocktail glass – 1 (4.5 oz.)
Directions:
1. Ready….?
2. Shake in an ice cocktail shaker, and strain!
3. Enjoy!
