Since our founding, Yampu Tours has had a steadfast commitment to supporting the areas to which we travel in order to provide a long-lasting future for this beautiful world we live in.

Always looking for opportunities to give back to the local communities around the globe, we believe that responsible travel is a means of not only experiencing other cultures but supporting our destinations and sustaining their environments and communities for generations. Since Yampu began assisting travelers with private trips to Peru in 1998, we have made it one of our top priorities to contribute to our destinations’ wellbeing through numerous initiatives around the globe. Yampu Tours’ own Cofounders have even independently donated to numerous charities, embedding responsible travel deeply in our company culture.

One special project being the stunning, annual Franzetti Art calendar of detailed oil paintings and charcoal sketches by Yampu Travelers, Joe and Paul Franzetti. Aside from the beautiful pieces that give a monthly dose of adventure, all profits are donated to a local hospital in Ecuador.

From visiting local schools in need to partaking in building homes with our partners, we reflect on all that our team of travel experts and amazing travelers have done in 2019 by bringing joy into the world through their travel and volunteering efforts.

Yampu Gives Back in 2019

After a visit to a hospital for patients suffering from Hansen’s Disease (once known as leprosy) during a trip to Ecuador, Paul and Joe Franzetti decided to launch a purposeful mission to combine their passion for art and wildlife to benefit those very patients. The project has taken these two all over the world to photograph the wildlife and landscape of far off lands to later become works of fine art. Detailed oil paintings and charcoal sketches transpire, becoming a part of a stunning art calendar that is sold with all profits being donated to the hospital they had visited, The Damien House. One hundred calendars are purchased annually by Yampu Tours as gifts to our VIP travelers.

We continue to be proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination. If you save just a few kilos of space in your suitcase and bring supplies for area schools or medical clinics in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.. If you are going to Peru, Yampu has adopted a school there called the Phiri School; you can bring things for these kids and we will get the supplies to them or you can go yourself to hand deliver them. This project is near to our hearts and hope it will be to you also.

The International Galapagos Tour Operators Association and Yampu are dedicated to responsible travel in the fragile ecosystem of the Galapagos Islands. Clients traveling to the Galapagos Islands with Yampu will have a donation of $20 given to the IGTOA in their name from Yampu plus yearly dues. These contributions help create benefits and educational opportunities for the locals, strengthen the drive towards responsible tourism management, and promote high professional standards for the industry.

The Orphaned Starfish Foundation is dedicated to helping orphans, victims of abuse, survivors of trafficking, indigenous children and at-risk youth break their cycles of abuse and poverty through technology-based education, job training and job placement assistance and commit to every program for life.

On October 18, 2019 Orphaned Starfish Foundation (OSF) held their 15th gala in NYC that brought together over 500 supporters from the worlds of business and entertainment. Proceeds from the gala benefit the 14,000 children OSF serves across 64 programs in 28 countries around the world. Yampu Tours participated by donating a six-day trip exploring the wonders of Peru to the gala’s silent auction. The lucky winners received a special Yampu itinerary filled with special handpicked accommodations, private transfers, roundtrip domestic airfare, and unique tours that give the best insight on the local communities.

This year OSF hosted 10 of those 14,000 children at the gala and in NYC during the week. It was most of their first times on an airplane and sleeping in a hotel room in beds all to themselves. The children marveled at all the rich wonders NYC has to offer and were delighted to have lived such experience.
