An unspoiled gem embedded in South-East Asia, Laos is full of stunning scenery, warm and welcoming locals and mesmerizing sights. Although less traveled and relatively undiscovered, Laos has an extensive and intriguing history of royalty, colonization, and a struggle for independence.
For all bookings made in November that include Laos within the itinerary, Yampu travelers will receive a complimentary almsgiving experience added to their trip!
The morning alms round (called “Tak Bat” in Lao) is a living Buddhist tradition for the people of Luang Prabang and dates back generations. Wake up before dawn to witness and participate in offering alms to a procession of hundreds of saffron-robed monks in the early morning light.
Lining the streets awaiting the procession are locals who have taken great care and time to prepare an assortment of alms, including sticky rice and fresh fruits, to provide the monks with the day’s sustenance.
Visitors who wish to partake and make an offering are encouraged to do so after reviewing a few guidelines and informing their guide a day in advance so that a gift of alms can be prepared.
After the almsgiving, watch the town come to life during a visit to the bustling morning market before returning to your hotel in time for breakfast.
