Visit the traveler's paradise
Mexico is a traveler's paradise, composed of diverse characteristics: desert landscapes, snow-capped volcanoes, ancient ruins, teeming industrialized cities, time-warped colonial towns, glitzy resorts, deserted beaches and an astonishing collection of flora and fauna. Our most popular Mexico tours include destinations not to miss: Mexico City, Merida and the amazing ruins of Chichen-Itza, the colonial city of Oaxaca, San Cristobal de las Casas and Palenque in Chiapas, and the Copper Canyon with the amazing train ride from Chihuahua to Los Mochis. Choose from several beach extensions or resorts in the Mayan Riviera and the Yucatan Peninsula, Los Cabos, the Costalegre, and Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo.Be in the know before you go
Mexico:
A valid passport is required to travel and should have at least 6 months’ validity after your return home. You should have at least 2 blank pages per country that you are visiting. If your passport does not meet this requirement at the time of departure, you can be denied boarding for your international flight and may consequently incur additional expenses.
U.S. citizens do not require a visa or a tourist card for tourist stays of 72 hours or less within the 20-30 kilometer “border zone.” Tourist Permit FMT Fee: Mexico charges a fee to all tourists and business visitors arriving in the country. The fee is approximately 22 USD and the money collected is handed to the Tourism Ministry to promote Mexican tourism. U.S. citizens traveling as tourists beyond the “border zone,” or entering Mexico by air, must pay a fee to obtain a tourist card, known as an FMM, available from Mexican consulates, Mexican border crossing points, Mexican tourism offices, airports within the border zone, and most airlines serving Mexico. If you do not arrive in Mexico by airplane, then you will need to pay Mexico’s tourist permit fee and complete the FMT Tourist Visa at the border checkpoint if you plan to travel beyond the 35km ‘free zone’ after crossing the border into Mexico. Failure to obtain the necessary permit will result in a 40 USD penalty fee upon returning to the US.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a travel alert for countries and territories where Zika virus has been found. If you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant, please consult your doctor before traveling to Mexico. For up to date information on recommended and required vaccinations and general health travel tips for Mexico please visit the CDC Website , then use the drop down menu to select the countries you are visiting. Please consult with your physician for clarification or concerns regarding recommended or required vaccinations.
High Altitude Areas: In high-altitude areas like Mexico City (elevation 7,600 feet, approximately 1.5 miles above sea level); most people need a short adjustment period as long as several days. Symptoms of reaction to high altitude include a lack of energy, shortness of breath, occasional dizziness, headache, and insomnia. Those with heart problems should consult their doctor before traveling. Air pollution in Mexico City and Guadalajara is severe, especially from December to May, and combined with high altitude could affect travelers with underlying respiratory problems.
What Our Clients Are Saying

"Great custom planning to fit all your adventure needs. My friends and I have never used Yampu and now plan to use for all future travel to South America. They offer the most informative and experienced guides. The service and experiences we received were exceptional! We had a private driver, a bit more costly but worth the expense as we had more leisure and relaxing time since we arrived and left everywhere in good time. Don’t hesitate to book your tour through Yampu."

"Wonderful trip to Mexico with Yampu Tours! I went on a yoga/art retreat with Yampu Tours, organized by Monica and would highly recommend their company. From the reservation booking to the day of travel and onto the trip, every detail was taken care of. I was lucky to have Monica, one of the owners, traveling with us and she is exceptional. She never stopped working to ensure the group's comfort and happiness. Looking forward to booking future adventures with Yampu."

"We have been on two trips using Yampu: to the backroads of Southern Mexico and to Jordan. We felt safe but adventurous on each, seeing what we wanted to see, not places on someone else's agenda. The hotels were always fine and the transportation and guides excellent. The Yampu people jumped into to help in a minor crisis (flight cancelled) leaving nothing to chance."

"Everything went very smoothly on our private tour, many thanks. We were able to see many different regions and aspects of Mexico making it a simply fascinating experience. We had a great time in Mexico City and Taxko (sadly Puebla was flooded and had to be taken out of the itinerary), and were able to take in the Aztek culture and Spanish colonial architecture. Then in the north, Copper Canyon (bigger than the Grand Canyon in the US) and the amazing train journey. The trip at the end to Baja California we managed to see the grey whales and the Yucatan and beautiful Maya ruins. The exposure to these very different areas in a short time made this a truly memorable journey."
