Tour Overview
With this Indonesia tour in 15 days, begin with a brief introduction to Bali, the most iconic of Indonesia’s islands. Leaving Bali, cruise aboard a traditional riverboat to Tanjung Putting National Park and visit an Orangutan Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary. This tour ends on the island of Sulawesi. Here you will journey into the remote area of Tana Toraja to experience the culture and traditions of a people left uninterrupted by the outside world for centuries.
In Tana Toraja, take a soft trek around the villages to view the unique architecture and interact with the locals. Also visit the extraordinary grave sites of Lemo, Suaya, Sangala, Londa and Marante. On Bali, take a short journey to Pura Kehen, a temple constructed in the 13th century. The temple courtyard is decorated with elephant statues, which is intriguing for a structure built in this time period, as elephants were not native to Indonesia. The inner compound is guarded by a ‘Naga,’ or dragon, that is said to have a mystical stone imbedded in the stone. From here you will travel to Kintamani to have lunch overlooking volcanic Mount Batur and Lake Batur in its crater.
Begin your tour of Kalimantan with a fauna rich journey up river. This is a perfect introduction to the up close and personal interactions you’ll experience at Tanjung Harapan and Camp Leakey. Spend the boat ride spotting gibbons, macaques, proboscis and wild female orangutans building their nests in the trees lining the river. Upon arrival in Tanjung Harapan you’ll have the opportunity to witness the rehabilitation of adolescent orphaned orangutans. Continuing onto Camp Leakey, an institution that can boast the rehabilitation of hundreds of orangutans during their 40 year history, provides the chance to interact with the protected primates. Guided tours into the jungle and then in Tanjung Puting National Park expand the river journey sightseeing into an immersive wildlife experience.

Visit to a Balinese Home and Pura Kehen
This read more...
This morning, a warm welcome awaits at a Balinese home, where a traditional breakfast will be served with Balinese coffee or tea. Walk through the local farms to experience the real life of Balinese farmers working in the rice fields. Learn more about the simple and traditional irrigation system called Subak, and the process of rice growing, from planting the seedlings, to harvesting, and even cooking the rice.
The next stop is Pura Kehen, which was constructed in the 13th century. Stepping through the "Kori Agung" (stone capped gateway), there are elephant sculptures, which is unusual for a building of that age, as elephants are not a native species of Bali. Once inside the temple, there is a small compound which is guarded by a mythical "Naga" (dragon) that has a magic stone inside it. Apparently, the stone glowed red hot once the site of the temple had been decided. Following this fascinating local insight, continue to Kintamani where one can enjoy lunch overlooking Mount Batur, an active volcano, and picturesque Lake Batur. Return to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Though our time was short, our agent was able to include all our requested stops
A friend & I just completed a 10 day tour of Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand) that was compiled by Yampu Tours. Though our time was short, our agent was able to include all our requested stops while adding some very interesting side tours, all within our budget. Everything and everyone we encountered were great: guides, hotels, flights, train, food, tours, and service.

We really enjoyed all the hotels and the tours you recommended!
Thanks for checking in. We had an excellent time in Chile and Argentina. Everything worked out perfectly. It was very comforting to have someone meet us in each city and facilitate our tours, while allowing us plenty of time on our own. All of the transfers and pick-ups were perfectly on time and were with very kind and helpful guides and drivers. Our only problem was in Chicago on our way home when our flight was cancelled, but there was really nothing anyone could do at that point. Otherwise everything was great! We really enjoyed all the hotels and the tours you recommended and look forward to working with you again in the future. Thanks again!
