Located 200km above the Arctic Circle, the tiny mining town of Kiruna prides itself on its vast forests, majestic mountain landscapes, thousands of lakes and an Arctic climate with good snow access. Many who visit us Kiruna are also attracted by the natural phenomena found in the destination such as the Northern Lights and the midnight sun. The entire town is in the process of moving, house by house, a little to the east as mining has slowly made the ground beneath the town less stable as it once was. If you’re lucky, you might even see local buildings being driven to their new destination. You can also take a trip to the world’s largest underground iron ore mine, where you will find out more about the mining that forms the city’s relocation. Visitors will also appreciate the many seasonal attractions from dog sledding and snowshoeing to hiking, fishing and berry picking.
