Just north of Montreal, located on the St. Lawrence River, Quebec City is the capital of the French-speaking Canadian Province of Quebec. Often referred to as the Cradle of French America, the capital and its province hold tightly to the region’s colonist history with pride. Being the only fortified city on the continent north of Mexico, Quebec is a walking air museum. Visitors can step back in time while touring the cobblestoned old town, which is particularly charming under a blanket of winter snow. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the city’s location with the outstanding wilderness just outside the city lines with rolling rivers, vast lakes, and glacial valleys of the nearby  Jacques-Cartier National Park.
