Tour Overview

In this Chile and Argentina Wine Tour Across the Andes, drink in the views of Mendoza’s sprawling vineyards, including some of the most important in the country. Taste wine at prestigious wineries such as Fabre Mont Mayou and Lagarde. Follow the Colchagua Valley wine route near Santiago in Chile where you can take in the cityscapes of Mendoza and Santiago on guided tours as you learn about the history and cultures here.

Yampu will guide you across the border from Mendoza, a popular destination for active travelers, to Santiago in a scenic bus or private car. Crossing the boarder you will have unforgettable views of the Aconcagua and the Andes Mountains. You will also spend three days in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires with a visit to a typical estancia and a dinner with tango show featuring some of the city’s most talented dancers performing intricate footwork. Get a glimpse into the gaucho culture with a folklore and gaucho show paired with a traditional asado: a delicious barbecue meal. One day is also planned for touring Santiago, one of South America’s most sophisticated metropolitan areas.

Arrive in Buenos Aires, and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon, tour Buenos Aires, an impressive city that combines the atmosphere of an old European town with the features of a Latin American capital. In this tour, acquire a deep understanding of its characteristics, its history, its architecture, its culture and its best stories. Visit the center of the city, San Telmo, La Boca, Puerto Madero and Palermo, with stops in Plaza de Mayo, Caminito and La Recoleta.
Note: check-in is normally after 2 pm. Early check-in may be granted subject to availability (not confirmed). Also, tour is done on group basis and may involve wait times picking up other passengers at different hotels. It is recommended that this tour be done privately in order to avoid this, at an additional cost of $ 42 per person, based on two people ($ 84 based on one person).

Full-day excursion to an estancia for a typical barbeque lunch and a folklore/gaucho show. Here, learn about the customs of the Argentinean gauchos and their abilities on horseback that will leave the audience breathless. The meat will be cooked a lo gaucho outdoors on the barbeque. Lunch and drinks included. Afternoon return to Buenos Aires. Duration: 6 hours. Operates every day except Monday.

Day of leisure in Buenos Aires to explore on one’s own.
At night, see an unforgettable tango show performed by the best dancers and singers while enjoying a delicious meal at Esquina Carlos Gardel. This world-famous tango show shows the glamour of the 1930s in a romantic and intimate setting. This is the perfect way to leave Buenos Aires, the city of tango. Three-course dinner and Argentinean wine included.

Note: There are several venues in the city, each offering something unique. Yampu includes the El Querandi or Esquina Carlos Gardel in the 3 and 4 star option with shared transfers, and the Rojo Tango or Gala Tango for the 5 star and deluxe options with private transfers. Estimated pick up time from the hotel is between 7:30 and 8:30 pm; dinner is served between 8:30 pm and 10:15 and tango show starts around 10:15 pm until 11:30 pm. Also visit the thermoelectric power plant, Ingoniero Cipolletti dam, the University of Agricultural Sciences, and La Carrodilla Church.

Transfer to the bus station to take the bus to Santiago de Chile, passing through beautiful scenic landscapes and amazing views of the Aconcagua. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
Note: On this day, one may also fly from Mendoza to Santiago (additional $218) or take a private car transfer which will allow stops in the scenic places on the way and also at the famous Portillo Hotel (additional $172 per person, based on two people).

Morning, city tour of Santiago. A journey through the main streets of the civic center of Santiago, viewing the neoclassical Moneda Palace, built in the 18th century and current seat of government, the Plaza de Armas, or main square with its cathedral, the Museum of National History and the Central Post Office, all with very different architectural styles. Continue to the Parque Forestal, based on the Champs d’ Elysee in Paris, the Fine Arts Museum and the Santa Lucia Hill where the city was founded in 1541. Continue to the bohemian area of Bellavista and climb the San Cristobal Hill for a panoramic view of the city with the Andes Mountains in the background. Full-day guided excursion to the wine route of the Colchagua Valley. Depart from Santiago along the Pan-American Highway toward Colchagua, a fertile valley known for its boutique wineries. The journey takes approximately two hours. Upon arrival at the village of Santa Cruz, the visits will be coordinated and travelers will depart to visit the wineries. Options include Vina Casa Silva, Estampa, Jacques & Francois Lurton, Laura Hartwig, Montes, Mont Gras, Viu Manent or Vina Bisquertt. As different wineries are open on different days, the choice will depend on the day of the tour. A full visit to the wineries with a wine tasting is included. Following the visits, lunch is included at the Hotel Santa Cruz Plaza or a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit a third winery or the Colchagua Museum, which houses one of the most important private collections of pre-Hispanic art in Chile, as well as an important display of artifacts from the Chilean colonial period. Following the last visit, return to Santiago—traveling once again through the fruit and vegetable producing areas of the central valley.
