Make a landing at the award-winning Beijing Capital international airport before being met by a local guide to assist with the transfer to the city. Once there, visit the Badaling section of the Great Wall and enjoy this testament to Chinese engineering. While in Xian, witness ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ the Terracotta Warriors, a fascinating glimpse into the ancient world. Get lost in the intricate Yu Gardens, a wonderful example of classical design, while exploring the beautiful city of Shanghai. While in Shanghai, stroll down Nanjing Road, a well-known shopping boulevard of immense energy and bright lights. Look out over the city below while at Jinmao Tower, a wonder of modern architecture. Wrap up this amazing experience with a walk along the Bund with the iconic skyline contrasting with the ornate colonial buildings of yesteryear.

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the Xi'an airport for the flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, be met by an English-speaking local guide. Lunch at a local restaurant, before beginning the half day tour of Shanghai. First stop is the Jade Buddha Temple. Founded in 1882, the temple is celebrated for its two magnificent white jade Burmese Buddha statues. Next, visit the Yu Gardens. Located in the old city center, this sublime site is a wonderful example of classical design. Constructed 400 years ago in the Ming period, the colossal city of Shanghai has sprung up around this older relative, but has left it to grow old peacefully, providing a fascinating window into the past. “Very impressed with China and learned a lot! We loved our experience in Tibet. The people are lovely and scenery magnificent. We had very accommodating and thoughtful guides. Very helpful.”
Flights in China were great and no delays, hotels were awesome, guides were wonderful, tours were perfect and even the train worked out. The 8th person on the train was a young Tibetan woman and they felt safe with her in the compartment.
