Arrival at Camp Okavango

Day flight to Maun. Upon arrival, airport reception and transfer to Camp Okavango via light aircraft. Stay in one of the camp’s beautifully designed and furnished African-style safari tent structures. The 16,000 square kilometers of wetlands that is the Okavango Delta is the final destination of Africa’s third longest river. It is here that herds of elephants, hippos, or buffalos can be stalked along the shoreline while drifting silently through the reeds upon a guided mokoro (indigenous canoe). Motorboat cruises, nature walks, and game drives are also available, where, each morning, Africa’s most famed animals will be tracked during their hunt for prey. In this colorful setting thriving within the reaches of the Kalahari Desert, experience a part of Africa like no other. Once arriving, take some time to relax and take in the surroundings before taking part in an afternoon activity of choice before returning to camp for the evening. Because mammals are the most active during the cool temperatures of the mornings and evenings, the game drives will follow this format as well. ...read less

I highly recommend Yampu as a company and Karolina in particular as an agent.

Karolina Guilcapi at Yampu Tours has provided excellent service for me and my brother on two separate trips, one to Mexico last August and, more recently, South Africa (and Botswana and Zimbabwe) last month. In particular on the South Africa trip she worked closely with me to combine and fine tune a number of their tours. I appreciated her recommendation to go to several game reserves and parks, rather than a lot of time at one. And my brother had some last minute complicated logistics (scheduling an all-day teleconference in the middle of our trip and rescheduling his flights when he missed his original flights) for which Karolina was instrumental in coordinating. I highly recommend Yampu as a company and Karolina in particular as an agent.

The trip you set up for me was flawless.

The trip you set up for me was flawless. The guide met all my expectations. He was helpful and protective. I did learn that in Africa, time is a relative thing. I soon learned that when James told me we were one half hour from anywhere, I could count on an hour. I saw every major animal, but one, including the Black Rino, one of the most endangers specie in the Crater. I took 900 pictures. I can tell you without a doubt, that your people can take care of a person my age and should promote that fact. I loved Nxabega. However, I was prevented from going to my tent for a rest when a family of Elephants started eating the trees between the lunch area and my tent. They were all first rate camps, but Sopa was exceptional. If you wish me to fill out anything, let me know. One funny story. I needed to go to the bathroom. James asked me to wait while he drove about a half a mile to high ground, so he could watch out for animals while I attended to the problem behind his 4×4. As we get to about fifty yards from the place we planned to stop; three lions walked over the hill and past our vehicle. You would be surprised how fast the urge to go disappears under these circumstances.

We all loved Cape Town and Franschoek

We’re on our last day at Kagga Kamma and I wanted to let you know that we are having a great time and everything is according to plan. We all loved Cape Town and Franschoek. While we were unsure about KK when we arrived, it has turned out to be a great experience. Just today we saw ostrich, eland, wildebeest, red hartebeest, zebra, botinbok, Springbok and cave paintings. Ted and i are taking the ATV’s this afternoon. It is a huge reserve here. The weather today is sunny and cool. Off to the airport in early morning to fly to Kruger. Hopefully the last leg of our trip will be as good as the first.
