Tour Overview

Experience Indonesia with this Yampu tour! Bali is an absolute must see destination for any visit to Indonesia. Combined with the islands of Komodo and Kelimutu, this tour will leave you with a lasting appreciation for Indonesia. On the island of Komodo, witness the fearsome Komodo Dragon in its natural habitat. On Kelimutu, bask in the serene, picturesque landscape named ’Flores’ by Portuguese explorers in the 16th century.

On the island of Bali, take a short journey to Prua Kehen, a temple constructed in the 13th century. The temple is especially unique with stone elephant carvings, as elephants are not native to Indonesia. The inner compound is guarded by a ‘Naga,’ or dragon, which is said to have a mystical stone imbedded in it. You will then travel to Kintamani monkey forest to have lunch overlooking volcanic Mount Batur with Lake Batur in its crater. You will get a taste of Balinese cuisine and culture by being served a traditional breakfast at a local home. Continue your tasting of the island with options for a cooking class and trip to the market, a cruise to Lembongan Island for a day of sun and surf with a BBQ lunch, or a tour of the northern part of the island with a visit to the Ulun Danu Water Temple.

The renowned pink beaches of Komodo are gorgeously tinged by tiny bits of red coral washed ashore. The reef itself boasts an incredibly rich and diverse marine life. Clownfish, parrotfish and sea turtles are among the many species attracted to this stretch of ocean. After snorkeling along the reef, journey inland to Banunggulung; a dry riverbed where you’ll not only have the opportunity to view the impressive Komodo Dragon, but also wild horses, deer, buffalo and several species of birds.

Begin your trip on Kelimutu surrounded by the unequaled biodiversity of the coral reef off the tranquil Waiara Beach before continuing to the other worldly sparseness on the summit of Mt. Egon. From there, drive to Mt. Kelimutu to view the three crater lakes, ‘The Old Man’, ‘The Young Maiden’ and ‘The Enchanted One’. Each lake, though separated only by a crater wall, exhibits not only a different color, but a constantly shifting palette depending on the mineral content of the volcanic gas venting through the water.

Visit a Balinese home and Pura Kehen

This morning, a warm welcome awaits at a Balinese home, where a traditional breakfast will be served with Balinese coffee or tea. Walk through the local farms to experience the real life of Balinese farmers working in the rice fields. Learn more about the simple and traditional irrigation system called Subak, and the process of rice growing, from planting the seedlings, to harvesting, and even cooking the rice.

The next stop is Pura Kehen, which was constructed in the 13th century. Stepping through the "Kori Agung" (stone capped gateway), there are elephant sculptures, which is unusual for a building of that age, as elephants are not a native species of Bali. Once inside the temple, there is a small compound which is guarded by a mythical "Naga" (dragon) that has a magic stone inside it. Apparently, the stone glowed red hot once the site of the temple had been decided. Following this fascinating local insight, continue to Kintamani where one can enjoy lunch overlooking Mount Batur, an active volcano, and picturesque Lake Batur. Return to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Elephant talent show

The Kokokan, or white heron birds have become an integral part of life for the villagers of Petulu Village. The birds have made their habitat in the village and every morning at dawn or late in the afternoon, the birds make a spectacular sight as they set out or return in droves circling the trees. The villagers regard the birds as sacred and have built a shrine in the village that is supposed to house the spirit of the birds. Admire the birds circling high above the village before continuing to visit the Taro Elephant Park.

The park is home to a number of elephants that have learned how to paint. Enjoy a magical Elephant Talent Show at dusk before a night ride through the dimly lit forest and a four course dinner at Pachyderm Palm Grove by the lake. The safari under the stars begins at twilight on a specially designed night trail that is different from the daytime elephant safari ride course, which makes for a completely new enchanted elephant experience.

Tour of Tanah Lot

Spend the morning on the beach before an afternoon tour to Tanah Lot. The first stop is Taman Ayun, also known as the Royal Family Temple. The temple dates back to the Mengwi Kingdom in 1634, and is surrounded by a mote, beautiful gardens and a pond. Continue to Alas Kedaton Temple, which is located in the famed "Monkey Forest" of Tabanan. Its towering nutmeg trees are unique to this area and are sacred to the Balinese people. The monkeys here are very tame and travelers may see them jumping up and down the temple wall, or bathing in the moat.

Continue in the late afternoon to Tanah Lot, Bali's most photographed temple. The temple is perched on a little rocky islet that is inaccessible during high tides. At sunset, when the tides are low, visitors can walk to visit the temple and watch the sun dip into the ocean, before returning to the hotel after sunset.
