Your day will start with a private walking tour of Split's city center with your guide. The city of Split has evolved over the centuries, offering a perfect mix of history and modern influences, amazing ancient Roman architecture infused with modern bars, restaurants, and vibrant life. Before visiting Split's open green market, visit Diocletian's Palace. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was originally built as a residential summer palace for the Roman emperor.
In the afternoon, we will visit the town of Trogir, a short 30-minute drive north of Split. This small and quaint medieval town connected by a bridge to the mainland was founded in the 3rd century BC by the Greeks. Later rulers were Rome, Byzantium, Venice, and Austria but the deepest cultural expansion has been left by the Croats. Trogir is still very well preserved and is on the UNESCO'S World Heritage list. The city of Salona was built in the 4th Century BC and is situated 9 km from Split on the mouth of the River Jadro and was the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of Roman Emperor Diocletian (244-311 AD). We will take you on a guided walk through these ancient remains where you will hear about the history of these turbulent times.
Alternatively we can coordinate a guided visit to the nearby fortress of Klis (used as a filming location for Game of Thrones) as well as Museum of Alka (ancient equestrian chivalry competition) with lunch in a more rural traditional setting.
Klis fortress (10th century A.D.) is one of the most dramatic looking fortresses in Croatia built on a cliff overlooking Split. With its extraordinary historical significance, it is also famous for its use as a location during Game of Thrones filming in Split area. After your tour of the fortress and small museum we will continue to a small town called Sinj, 20 miles from Split. There we will visit the museum of Alka's, an equestrian competition held in the Croatian town of Sinj every first Sunday in August since 1715. It commemorates a Croatian Venetian victory over Ottomans on August 14, 1715 in which the local Christian population of around 700 Croats in cooperation with a smaller number of Venetians managed to defend Sinj against 60,000 Ottoman soldiers. ...read less

A very exciting trip!
We arrived back Sunday evening after a very exciting trip! It was an amazing experience to visit Cambodia and Vietnam, and to see the contrast to our brief stop in Singapore. The guides we had were great, and the Aqua Mekong cruise was outstanding, with wonderful facilities, a fantastic crew and very interesting shore excursions throughout the voyage.

Thank you for arranging a once in a lifetime trip
It was all and more than I anticipated. We were anxious about travelling alone and were amazed about how effortless you made it. We are ecstatic that we did this and had so much fun.
The Delfin entire experience was top shelf. The accommodations were great. The ship was kept spotless top to bottom every day without any inconvenience to passengers. Our stateroom was spacious and the view was spectacular. The public areas were inviting. The food and its presentation were something we looked forward to at every meal. The crew was helpful, solicitous and always available. They were fun too. The trips on the skiff were fun and adventurous yet very safe. The naturalists seemed to be very knowledgeable and enjoyed their jobs; and the skiff drivers always got us to interesting spots on the river.
We enjoyed our time on board almost as much as the time on shore. I can brag that I saw two anaconda, several poisonous tree frogs and beetles, lots of waterfowl, several species of monkeys and fished for piranha. I did see the pink dolphins and enjoyed feeding the manatee. The stop at the village to visit the school was refreshing. The children were enthusiastic and appreciative.
The drivers and guides were very helpful and gracious. They were always there, waiting.
I was fascinated with the ruins and how the city of Cusco was built. We had a great guide. Machu Picchu, while brief, was the main point of the trip for me. I am still processing the awesomeness. I cried a few times just realizing I was finally there – 40 years after first reading about it and wanting to visit the site. The guide at Machu Picchu was special, helping us set the pace and take the time to soak it in.
We were especially grateful that the guides saw us all the way to check in our bags at the airlines. That went a long way to take airport stress out of the equation. It was unexpected and very appreciative.
I am thankful we found Yampu and for your brilliant planning and patience with our myriad of questions as we ramped up for the experience.
