Tour Overview
The Israel Heritage Tour will provide an exploration of the rich history of Israel. Visit religious sites of the three religions believed to have begun in Israel. Marvel over ancient structures, float in the Dead Sea and wander through ancient streets and quarters where you will see some of the oldest churches, buildings, and cities in the world.
Start in the modern city of Tel Aviv, the second largest city in Israel. Tour the Independence Hall where the establishment of the State of Israel was declared and make your way to Beit Guvrin National Park. Explore parts of the archaeological remains and unique caves, letting the mystique of history wash over you. Stunning views of Jezreel Valley can be seen and tranquility can be found the magnificent Bahai Gardens and Shrine. Then, take in the ancient city of Jerusalem, now the capital of Israel. From here, you can travel to Jericho, the oldest city in the world. Embark on a must-see excursion to what is known as Armageddon and learn about the history of the site that served as a battle field from Egyptian through Assyrian and Israeli times. Don’t miss out on beautiful Acre, the Old City recognized by UNESCO as world heritage site, a most befitting honor. The remarkable underground Crusader City and crypt will take your breath away as you learn about their fascinating history and culture. Keeping the momentum going, you will traverse to Massada, where you will learn the heroic story of the Jewish fighters. Ride a cable car to the top of the mountain and wander the fortress built there by the dark King Herod, where the Zealots of the first century made their last stand against the Romans. Here, you can see the remains of the walls, palace, synagogue, water cisterns, mosaic floors, roman baths and other findings.
Religious sites including Nazareth cannot be missed on your tour of Israel, for it is the town where Jesus spent his childhood. Here you can stand in awe of the magnificent ancient structures such as the Basilica of Annunciation, the Church of St. Joseph, the Church of Nativity and ruins of the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught. Afterward, take a load off and enjoy the peaceful and natural surrounding at Yardenit, the famous baptismal site located where the Jordan River flows out from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea. Before ending, revel in other historic sites including King David’s Tomb, the Last Supper Room, the Dormition Abbey, the Jewish Wailing Wall, and the Kotel.
Finish with a journey to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea, driving past the Qumeran caves where the Dead Sea scrolls were found. Pick up souvenirs at a Dead Sea cosmetic and spa products shop. Enjoy a float in the Dead Sea and cover body with the mineral rich mud that many believe has its therapeutic effects.

Tel Aviv

Although there are many old sections of the city, there is still a modern feel to parts of the city.

Bethlehem
Bethlehem is thought to be the birth place of Jesus. It has been referred to as “little town of Bethlehem” and is today a small city. Only 6 miles south of Jerusalem, Israel, Bethlehem is part of the West Bank. The city is home to one of the oldest churches in the world, the Church of the Nativity. Bethlehem is also thought to be the birthplace of David, the King of Israel. Currently the city is now home to one of the largest Arab Christian communities in the region.

Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is shared by Israel, Palestine, and Jordan. At 1269 ft below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point in the world. The water is so salty that no maritime life can survive in its waters. The mineral rich mud on its shores is thought to have therapeutic benefits. Many visitors enjoy floating in the water, as it is almost impossible to sink because of the hypersalination.

Jericho
Jericho is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. The city is also home to one of the oldest protective walls in the world. There are many archaeological sites throughout the city where more than twenty different settlements in Jericho have been discovered dating back to over 11,000 years ago. Today the city is in Palestinian Territories and is one of the areas largest tourist destinations.
