This afternoon, enjoy a private city tour of Santiago. The tour starts from the Funicular de Santiago (Gondola), which provides a stunning and panoramic view over the city from the top of San Cristobal Hill.
Then travel to the heart of the city and Plaza de Armas the spot from where the city has grown throughout the centuries. Each Latin city has a plaza de Armas as when cities were founded the center was also where the armory and military base was established - hence the name Plaza de Armas (Plaza of Arms).
Visit some of the more important buildings such as the Cathedral, the City Council, the Central Post Office and the National Historical Museum. Continue to the Presidential Palace "La Moneda"; the current seat of the government. Wander the streets that were once elegant at the beginning of the 19th century and now are a commercial center.
Also visit some the original colonial neighborhoods such as Concha y Toro Square. Characterized by its cobbled streets and old mansions that reflect the elegance and richness of the early twentieth century the neighborhood grew to prominence between 1870 and 1876 with the influx of wealth as a result of mining and the discovery of Silver. Many Chileans achieved great wealth, including Enrique Concha y Toro founder of the famed winery. Return to the hotel for the evening.

This morning, depart from your hotel in Santiago around 11:00am, driving along the picturesque Chilean countryside towards one of Chile's most important wine areas, the Casablanca Valley, producing some of South America's finest white wines.
First you will visit Casas del Bosque, located 70 km from Santiago and only 30 km from Valparaiso, with 235 hectares vineyard dedicated exclusively to the production of cold climate varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Syrah. In 2013, in London, this vineyard was chosen in the International Wines & Spirits Competition as Chilean Wine Producer of the Year. Take a full tour of the premises before lunch (included) at the Tanino's restaurant, supervised by Chef Alvaro Larraguibel and enologist Alvaro Larraguibel, who have worked jointly to achieve the perfect pairing between gastronomy and wines.
After lunch, proceed 30km southeast by a beautiful tree-lined highway up to Valparaiso, the principal port of Chile, declared Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, and built on hills on the coast of a hectic bay. The true attraction of Valparaiso are the hills that divide the city in two levels with its characteristic and colorful buildings hanging from the hills and cliffs in an impressive layout of streets, side streets and alleys. The use of elevators to join the two levels of the city is a tradition to enjoy full panoramic views of the port. After your visit, continue on towards Vina del Mar, overlooking the blue restless Pacific.
Vina del Mar is also known as the "Garden City", due to its beautiful parks, original suburban architectural style, busy beaches and coastal avenues dotted with modern buildings, premium hotels, casino and gourmet restaurants. This panoramic tour includes the Plaza Vergara main square, Libertad bridge, over the Marga creek, Libertad avenue, shaded by huge maple trees, Fonck Archaeological museum, with an interesting collection of Easter Island objects, continuing by a coastal road past Las Salinas towards up market Renaca and Concon beaches. Returning to Vina, view on the Municipal gambling casino, Peru Avenue promenade, famed Quinta Vergara and upscale Sporting Club, before returning to Santiago.

We will sail through the Beagle and Murray channels to disembark in Wulaia Bay.
Originally the site of one of the region's largest Yamana aboriginal settlements, the bay was described by Charles Darwin and sketched by Captain FitzRoy in the 1830s during their voyages on the HMS Beagle. Impressive !
I just completed a trip with Yampu to Easter Island/Rapa Nui. The trip went extremely well and they were able to adjust the trip to fit my budget. Louise, my travel consultant was a super star. She kept me informed as I requested changes and was always upbeat. Thought a particularly experienced traveler, I made a rookie mistake and left my good camera behind in a hotel and did not realize it until 10 days after the trip. Somehow with Yampu connections, they tracked the camera down and had it shipped back to me in the States. It was so noteworthy that they had such honest suppliers. I never thought I would get my camera and SIM card back with all my photos. Impressive !

Thanks again for your co-ordination of our trip
Just to advise you that we arrived home in Australia yesterday after another successful trip to Chile and Argentina (plus a short side trip to Uruguay!). Apart from a couple of hiccups in the first half of the trip that you were aware of, the trip overall went very well. All the connections worked out, the hotel/hospedaje accommodation was overall very good, with some outstanding (e.g. Tierra Atacama, KKala, Nothofagus, Entre Hielos) and we lucked a presidential suite (without the President) at the Hotel Antofagasta. Bahia Bustamante was also a refreshing highlight. The guide services also worked out well and as it eventuated, all aspects of the original itinerary were met, including the remote area crossing from Chile into Argentina from Cochrane to Los Antiguos. There were many geographic, geological and cultural highlights and we were generally very fortunate with weather conditions. Thanks again for your co-ordination of our trip. Graham and Anita were spending an extra couple of days in Santiago and return to Australia tomorrow.
