Lodge Overview
About two hours from Puerto Maldonado along Río Tambopata, followed by a 10-minute uphill walk, this posada is on the land of the Ese’eja tribe, and tribal members are among the guides. The lodge has 30 large double rooms with private showers and open (unglazed/unscreened) windows overlooking the rainforest. Mosquito nets are provided. Electricity is available in the evenings; otherwise everything is candle- or lamp-lit.
Ideal for your first taste of the Amazon jungle, it offers numerous opportunities for finding tremendous wildlife such as squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, macaws, and an abundance of parrots in all sorts of colors. This specific area which is located close to Puerto Maldonado, is inhabited by giant river otters. The bedrooms both standards and suites offer extreme comfort to all guests with its following features: a spacious bathroom with hot water, electricity and outlets to charge your equipment, free online access, umbrellas, and eco friendly amenities. All beds are accompanied with mosquito nets for your safety as you spend your evenings it will provide safety from the insects trying to invade your space. Self serve three course meals are well provided at Posada Amazonas, and if you require special dietary treatment the lodge is most delighted to meet those requirements as long as they are notified in advance.

Puerto Maldonado is often a starting point for jungle trips, but the city itself has some exciting attractions of its own. Enjoy some ice cream while taking beautiful pictures in Plaza de Armas, the main square. Visit the Rescue Snake House to see several species of rescued reptiles. Or take a trip to the markets for souvenirs.
