The ship, or the rib safari boat, depart from the downtown Reykjavik harbour, sailing around the bay to search for the area's underwater residents. These include minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbour porpoises and the popular humpback whales.
Sea birds in the area include puffins, gannets, guillemots, arctic terns and many more. The whale watching season begins in April and continues through August. Although trips are organized in wintertime, sightings of whales and seabirds are much rarer during that time.

Private South Coast Tour
The read more...
The south coast of Iceland is a magical area filled with adventure opportunities. Vast black lava beaches as far as the eye can see, majestic waterfalls, rugged rock formations and enchanting glacier tongues, all within an arm's reach. With the Atlantic Ocean to the south and a huge ice cap to the north, as well as two mighty glacier rivers to the east and west, the scenery is simply breathtaking and is one of Iceland's best road trips.
Your private tour means that the day will be fully tailored to your interests, and no two south coast tours are exactly alike. However, there are certain signature attractions you can expect to see. Perhaps the most well known is Reynisfjara beach, widely considered to be the most beautiful examples of Iceland's black sand beaches. As you walk along the jet black sand, you will immediately spot the Reynisdrangar rocky sea stacks which, according to legend, are trolls turned to solid stone at sunrise as they tried to drag ships from the ocean to the shore. You will also visit the charming coastal village of Vik i Myrdal, whose picturesque church enjoys glorious ocean views. Nearby is Dyrholaey; a 120m (400 ft)-high natural rock arch also serves as a bird sanctuary, and every summer, thousands of visitors and birdwatchers alike flock here to observe puffins in their natural habitat. You can also expect to see some of Iceland's most impressive waterfalls, including Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, where you'll find a winding staircase leading to the top of the falls, offering a birds' eye view of this natural marvel.

Everything went smoothly
Everything went smoothly. We were very pleased with Cecil, our guide in Rio, and India, our guide in Iguazu. Also in Iguazu, the driver, Aloisio(?), was a delightful guy. The day trip to Petropolis was very pleasant. We had a truly outstanding meal, one of the best in Brazil (and we ate at DOM in Sao Paulo and other top restaurants there), at the Leopoldina in the lovely Solar do Imperio Hotel. The best thing about the Porto Bay, by far, was the Copacabana location and the roof deck with spectacular views. Otherwise, the rooms were very plain and the Internet was costly and the connection was quite poor. We liked the Santa Teresa neighborhood and the hotel was great. Unfortunately, there were a couple of holidays and some closings of good spots with the best views. We can recommend a little seafood place near the hotel, Sobre Natural.Iguazu was stunning. Das Cataratas a super place. We liked being able to walk to the Falls just outside the hotel. The day trek and zodiac on the river was a fun adventure. Happy to answer any questions happy to recommend our itinerary and Yampu.
