Tour Overview
Boasting an array of dazzling palaces, sacred holy sites and elaborate fortresses, this tour combines a selection of India’s most prized cities with all of Sri Lanka’s top destinations. One day find yourself cruising upon Lake Pichola to photograph Udaipur’s lake palaces, a few days later become captivated by the hunt tracking one of Sri Lanka’s exotic leopards. From marble palaces, lush tea plantations and glamorous parliament buildings to exotic animals, dense rainforests and white sand beaches, enjoy these two countries at their finest.
When flying to Sri Lanka you will arrive for a night in Colombo, the country’s capital where visitors can find an eclectic mixture of ancient, colonial and modern influences among the city’s ancestral mansions and ritzy high rises. Home to an ancient tree said to be grown from a cutting of the Buddha’s “tree of enlightenment”, Anuradhapura flourished for 1,300 years as a religious and political capital of Ceylon before being abandoned and lost in the dense jungles for many years. Today its unique architecture showcases incredible monuments, especially the massive Dagobas, which are typical of Sinhalese stupas.
The last part of Sri Lanka to fall to the British in 1815, Kandy is a World Heritage City reflecting its cultural and historic importance. The centerpiece of the town is the highly sacred Temple of the Tooth that Buddhists claim contains one of the Buddha’s teeth, which is annually paraded around the town in a gold casket by elephant-back during the Esala Perahera Festival. South of Kandy, one can then find themselves at Nuwara Eliya, the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country with a colonial era atmosphere, rolling green hills and cool mountain weather.
The remainder of the trip will focus on the rich wildlife of Sri Lanka, where you can see populations of elephant, spotted deer, sambar, wild buffalo, sloth bear and most notably leopards in Yala National Park. The Sinharaja Rainforest is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and is special for being the least disturbed and most biologically unique lowland rainforest remaining in Sri Lanka. It is a treasure trove of endemic species including trees, insects, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and 95% of Sri Lanka’s endemic birds. After all of the excitement, unwind with a few days of relaxation and sunbathing on Bentota’s fine beaches.

As usual, everything went like clockwork
Recently I went to Bhutan with Yampu Tours. With multiple flights and visas, this is not the easiest of tours but, as usual, everything went like clockwork. I say, as usual, because this is the third trip with Yampu and I have nothing but praise for their handling of everything. The professionalism, attention to detail, economical prices, keeps me returning to their services when I want to travel. I highly recommend them.

Would highly recommend your services to friends & family
Local Guides – All three guides were superb. Very knowledgeable, respectful, communicative, personable and great with kids & family. Transportation – Both very good, cautious drivers always made us feel comfortable (and safe). Both patient and punctual.Hotels – All Taj hotels were top notch & would highly recommend. Marari was unique & fun but would not recommend for those who prefer luxurious accommodation; we really enjoyed the natural environment however. Houseboat was also great! Restaurants – All Taj hotels had excellent food. To avoid illness would stick to hotel food in the future. How would you rate your whole trip? Excellent for education. Great overall experience. Was very happy with Yampu itinerary and ease of everything. General Comments – Would highly recommend your services to friends & family.
