After a brief stop, you'll catch another short 45-minute direct flight from Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat. Once you arrive in Ilulissat, you'll check in at the Hotel Arctic, where you'll spend the night in a comfortable double room with scenic views.
Later in the day, you'll join a guided orientation session at the World of Greenland office, where a local guide will provide insights about your stay in Ilulissat.
You'll also embark on a fascinating two-hour city walk, led by an experienced guide who will share stories about the town's history, culture, and daily life in this Arctic location.

On this adventure, you'll set off from Ilulissat to Itilliup Ilua near Ilimanaq, where you'll explore the beautiful Arctic landscapes.
After arriving at a sandy beach, you'll journey through the tundra in off-road vehicles to reach the Tasiusaq Fjord system, which has been a hunting area for thousands of years. From there, you'll sail deeper into the fjord, passing icebergs to reach the glaciers and the ice sheet. You'll have lunch with a view of the glacier and then hike on the ice sheet.
At the end of the day, you'll sail back to Ilulissat. Please note that the terrain can be uneven, and this trip is not suitable for individuals with severe back or neck problems.

You will never forget your first visit to Hotel Arctic, which is right on the shores of the Ilulissat Icefjord. The hotel sets a new standard for accommodation in nature, and it does not get more beautiful than the Ilulissat Icefjord, which was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in the summer of 2004.
The Icefjord is home to one of the largest and most active glaciers in the world – its 3,000 km2 mass moves forward by approximately 40 meters a day. The glacier calves off approximately 10% of all the icebergs that drift out to sea from Greenland and is unmatched by any other glacier in the world.

Glacier Lodge Eqi

Glacier Lodge Eqi consists of 15 cozy cabins, all of which have a terrace with a formidable view of the Eqi Glacier on the other side of the fjord. In connection with the cabins, a café has been established where all meals are served. Glacier Lodge Eqi is located approx. 80 km north of Ilulissat, and you can only get here by boat.
You do not share a cabin with anyone other than your fellow travelers, and it is often also possible to book a single cabin.
The cabins at Glacier Lodge Eqi all consist of one large room. Each cottage is furnished with good beds, duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels, a sofa, and chairs with musk leather.

My wife and I have used Yampu 4 or 5 times now to plan our travel for us. They have access to the best guides, the best experiences, and the best service in every country we’ve used them to visit – from Portugal to Cambodia and from Peru to Iceland. This most recent trip to Iceland was perfect. Two days in Reykjavik, where we did a walking tour of the city, a food tour, the Fly Over Iceland experience, and some shopping and relaxing. Then 2 nights at the Retreat Spa – which is a very special experience in itself that is hard to describe – and then two nights in the countryside where our private guide took us to all of the main attractions on the Golden Circle and South Coast. Private guides mean no waiting, front row parking and VIP access everywhere, and wonderful knowledgeable guides without a lot of time herding on and off of buses and going places that may not interest you. It is a bit more expensive, although not as much as you might think, often less than a high end group tour — without the group. Yampu has planned each trip just for us, exactly what we want to do, and not anything we don’t – and it has always worked out great – highly recommend.

Arctic Adventure – Norway & Svalbard
My father and I travelled to Svalbard, Norway, this summer. This was our third arctic circle trip in 8 years set up by Monica at Yampu (Iceland, Finland and now Norway), and were each outside the normal Yampu destinations (showing their flexibility). Our itinerary was originally prepared for Greenland but evolved into the Svalbard expedition. Since our interest was in wildlife, Monica made sure that we would be satisfied in our quest for photographing animals–from a remote lodge in Costa Rica, to a remote outpost on the Finnish-Russian border in a bear blind; to a reindeer farm in Alaska; and this time a walrus colony in the Arctic. Yampu mixes luxury and comfort where possible along with a rugged experience that endears you to each location. Every transfer was met, and even small details (like my birthday) were accounted for in surprising way. In a short number of days (9 days total), time was given to visit Oslo and experience the city and culture on the bookends of the trip. Ultimately, after using other travel firms in the past, we will never look back. Yampu is AMAZING!!
