Tour Overview
The word Fjord is an ancient Viking term used to describe the stunning landscape of high cliffs that have been carved into much of Scandinavia over thousands of years thanks to several ice ages. Today, these stunning inlets attract travelers from around the globe to experience their sheer wonder. With The Fjords of Norway Tour, travelers will experience some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes with the 11-day journey from Oslo to Trondheim in the north.
Beginning in the Norwegian capital, the tour takes travelers to all the must-see sites of Oslo, including the Viking Ship Museum, which houses impressive finds from Viking burials. Following Oslo, the Fjord journey begins with a scenic train ride to Myrdal, a remote mountain station where visitors will pick up their bikes for a cycling ride into the village of Flam. On the way, the ride offers amazing views of majestic waterfalls with a delightful picnic lunch.
Once in Flam, no time is wasted and visitors are whisked away on a Fjord Safari to take in nature’s beauty that surrounds the small village. From Flam, travelers will then cruise through Norway’s longest and deepest fjord to reach Bergen City, where houses cling to the mountainsides and narrow streets packed with cozy cafes and shops. From Bergan, the journey continues to the north aboard the Hurtigruten Cruise ship. Sailing past towering cliffsides and making stops along the way to appreciate the region’s beauty, visitors will then arrive at their final destination, where their private guides will meet them for an in-depth sightseeing tour of Trondheim.

Places You'll See
-
Oslo, Norway
Oslo is surrounded by the vast forest area of Nordmarka, a great area for team-building activities. Within easy reach, it is possible to go hiking, biking, Nordic walking, or canoeing on one of the many lakes. Winter boasts the opportunity for great skiing, both downhill and cross country, tobogganing, and horse sleigh rides. For those wishing to enjoy a more relaxing activity, wrap up warm and savor a tasty cup of hot chocolate in a lavvo.
-
Flam, Norway
At the innermost bank of the Aurlandsfjord, surrounded by steep mountains, thundering waterfalls and narrow valleys, you’ll find the small village of Flam. Good transport connections make Flam easy to reach by train, boat, bus or car and in the spring and summer months, you will see large cruise ships gliding in the Sognefjord with their course set for Flam harbor. From there, it is just a short walk to several hotels, hostels and a camping ground.
-
Bergen, Norway
Even though Bergen is Norway’s second-largest city, it has a lovely small-town vibe and atmosphere. Houses clinging to the mountainsides, old wooden architecture, and narrow streets packed with cozy cafes and shops. The Bergen bucket list tends to grow long, so make sure you have enough time. Popular attractions include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Bryggen Hanseatic wharf, the fish market, Mount Fløyen, Bergen Aquarium, and KODE Art Museums and Composer Homes.
-
Trondheim, Norway
Trondheim is where the fusion of history, arts, technology, and green initiatives ignite a culture of innovation and rich tradition. Trondheim stands out with its progressive nature and vibrant city life, while still embodying its small-town heart. It is Norway’s third-largest city, with just over 200,000 inhabitants. Popular museums with exciting exhibitions include the National Museum of Decorative Arts, the Trondheim Museum of Art, and the Archbishop’s Palace Museum. Trondheim also has a strong focus on local food. Many local establishments, including pubs, cafés, and restaurants, serve a wide range of excellent locally brewed beers, preferably together with food specially developed for pairing.

A ++ experience!
We used Yampu last Christmas (2017) for a 2 week trip in Argentina. From the very first email to the follow up after our trip, everything was perfect with Yampu. The hotel selection was matching our needs, the transfers between locations and airports all went very smoothly, the overall trip plan was a good balance of sightseeing, discovery and personal time. The guides were all so friendly and knowledgeable. This was a A+ experience. Our main point of contact in the USA was Christine Cronin. She did an amazing job for us. We like their services so much that we are now planning another trip with Yampu.

Best customer care & itineraries
I am recently returned from my third trip organised by Yampu, this time to Costa Rica. As always, it was fabulous from start to finish!
I do look around initially when planning my holidays but each time Karolina offers the best customer care & arranges by far the best itineraries. Value for money is excellent & they keep in constant contact before during & afterwards to make sure everything is going well.
The standard of accommodation & guides they use is superb & they actually listen to your requests as opposed to copying a generic page from their website…. Do I highly recommend Karolina & Yampu? YES! Will I use them again? YES! Save time & effort & just use Yampu is my travel tip 🙂
