Places You'll See
-
Kiruna, Sweden
Located 200km above the Arctic Circle, the tiny mining town of Kiruna prides itself on its vast forests, majestic mountain landscapes, thousands of lakes and an Arctic climate with good snow access. Many who visit us Kiruna are also attracted by the natural phenomena found in the destination such as the Northern Lights and the midnight sun. The entire town is in the process of moving, house by house, a little to the east as mining has slowly made the ground beneath the town less stable as it once was. If you’re lucky, you might even see local buildings being driven to their new destination. You can also take a trip to the world’s largest underground iron ore mine, where you will find out more about the mining that forms the city’s relocation. Visitors will also appreciate the many seasonal attractions from dog sledding and snowshoeing to hiking, fishing and berry picking.
-
Jukkasjarvi, Sweden
The village of Jukkasjarvi only has about 548 inhabitants. But don’t let the small population size fool you: Jukkasjärvi boasts the world’s first ice hotel and is one of the best regions to view the Northern Lights. Guided tours can be arranged for travelers to visit the Esrange Space Center located 30 minutes from Kiruna where they can dine at a wilderness camp and get the chance to scan the Arctic winter sky for aurora borealis. Northern Lights safaris on snowmobiles for the ultimate Aurora experience in the wilderness can also be arranged. Whether you choose to visit by train, plane, or dog sled, reaching Jukkasjarvi will be an adventure.

Ice Hotel – Deluxe Suite 365
Icehotel is a hotel and an art exhibition with ever-changing art made out of ice and snow. Icehotel is created in a new guise every winter, completely made out of natural ice from Torne River, one of Sweden’s national rivers and last untouched waters. When the winter suites have melted back into the river in spring, a part of the hotel still stands, a place where visitors can experience the ice and snow year-round.
The Deluxe Suite 365 is our most exclusive room type. Each suite, exclusively designed and made of snow and ice, holds its own private bathroom in warm room temperature, including a shower and a toilet – Johka, while Hilla also includes a sauna.
The design of the bathroom and relaxation area is a combination of local culture and history in the building material and details. Designed by Majolein Vonk and Pia Sandgren.

A life rewarding experience
Our family of four just returned from a two-week excursion in Peru. We traveled to Lima, the Peruvian Rainforest, Cusco, Urubamba, Machu Picchu and Puno/Lake Titicaca. We stayed in five different amazing hotels during our stay. Our tour operator, Yampu Tours did an exceptional job organizing the trip. We had an incredibly knowledgeable guide with us every step of way meeting us at our hotel managing our domestic air, bus and train transportation in Peru. Every guide was extremely knowledgeable about the sites/attractions. At no point did we ever get lost, feel rushed or left to our own devices (we do not speak Spanish… but we tried). This was easily one of the most carefree/safe trips with lots of adventures along the way. Lima is a city full of culinary delights, the biodiversity of the rainforest was incredible and visiting Cusco, the ancient Inca ruins, indigenous cultures of Puno, and Peruvian people in general was a life rewarding experience. I would wholeheartedly and emphatically recommend Yampu Tours (without reservation) for individuals and families alike for any travel considerations to Peru.

Everything went very smoothly on our private tour
Everything went very smoothly on our private tour, many thanks. We were able to see many different regions and aspects of Mexico making it a simply fascinating experience. We had a great time in Mexico City and Taxko (sadly Puebla was flooded and had to be taken out of the itinerary), and were able to take in the Aztek culture and Spanish colonial architecture. Then in the north, Copper Canyon (bigger than the Grand Canyon in the US) and the amazing train journey. The trip at the end to Baja California we managed to see the grey whales and the Yucatan and beautiful Maya ruins. The exposure to these very different areas in a short time made this a truly memorable journey.
