Overnight International Flight to the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi

Upon arrival to Tbilisi, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.

Tbilisi derives from the Old Georgian word “tbili”, meaning warm, thanks to its natural hot springs and bathhouses.

Today, we will begin the Tbilisi sightseeing tour by taking a tram to Mtatsminda Mountain and paying a visit to the Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures. This is the largest necropolis in Tbilisi where many famous writers, scientists, national heroes, and other public figures are buried. From Mtatsminda, we will continue to the Georgian National Museum on Rustaveli avenue. This museum has numerous collections of house artifacts of natural and human history, rich ethnographic and archaeological collections from different historical periods, and more.

Then, we will take a walk along the Rustaveli Avenue, and take a look at the buildings of the Parliament of Georgia, Rustaveli National Theater, and Georgian National Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi. We can also visit the glass Bridge of Peace, Shardeni street and Maidan square, which are full of outdoor cafes, bars, restaurants, souvenir shops and art galleries.

This evening, you may go shopping at one of the biggest shopping centers in Caucasus, the Tbilisi Mall. Located in the center of Tbilisi on Rustaveli avenue, Tbilisi Mall offers a broad range of shops from many famous international brands. You can also find fruit and vegetable markets, banking facilities, a multi-screen cinema and a family entertainment center in the mall.

This morning, depart to Mtskheta (276 km/172 miles, approx. 5 hours) the ancient capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia. In Mtskheta, we are going to visit two UNESCO World Geritage Sites: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built in the 11th c., and Jvari Monastery built in the 6th c.

From Mtskheta, we will arrive in Gori and visit the museum of Joseph Stalin. The museum still has a Soviet-era architectural style and consists of Stalin's memorial house, exposition building with tower, and personal room with belongings.
We will then depart to Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave complex that is considered the oldest urban settlement discovered on the territory of present-day Georgia. The complex is comprised of many tunnels, caves, halls, streets and walls carved in stone.

Our tour continues to the western part of Georgia as we depart for the third largest city of the country, Kutaisi. On our way to Rikoti Pass, we can make a few stops at the local pottery and farmers' market. We are going to sightsee the two major attractions around the city - Gelati Academy and Monastery and Bagrati Cathedral, both built during the Georgian Golden Age and listed as World Heritage by the UNESCO. Today, we will depart from Kutaisi to explore Prometheus Cave (177 km/110 miles, approx. 3.5 hours) - one of the most popular and largest caves in Georgia. The Cave has a 1.8 km long trail open to visitors, full of various types of stalactites, stalagmites, underground rivers and lakes.

Continue to Batumi - the capital of Adjara, located on the shore of the Black Sea. On your Batumi City tour, we are going to visit the Piazza Square, statues of Jason & Medea from Greek Mythology, then the moving sculpture of Ali and Nino by Tamara Kvestadze. Finally, we will take a walk along the Batumi Boulevard and enjoy the lights of dancing fountains in the evening. Overnight in Batumi.

After breakfast, you will visit a place called Green Cape (50 km / approx.1.5 hours), where the Batumi Botanical Garden is located. The garden is unique for its combinations of species from completely different climatic zones. Continue to the Gonio Fortress - a well-preserved Roman fortification dated back to the 1st c. A.D., located 10 kilometers from Batumi. In the evening, we will return to Batumi.

Today, you will depart to Borjomi Spa-Resort (274 km/170 miles, approx. 5 hours). We can make a short Borjomi tour and visit Borjomi National Park to taste the famous local natural mineral water "Borjomi" from the springs. Mineral waters of Borjomi have been famous since 19th c. and are exported to different countries of the world. Overnight in Borjomi.

This morning, depart to Akhaltsikhe (218 km/135 miles, approx. 3 hours) to visit the Rabati Castle. Rabati comprises of a castle from the 14th century, several churches, a mosque, synagogue and a museum. The museum presents old printed books manuscripts, archaeological and numismatic collections, photographic collections, and more. We will continue our exploration of Samtskhe-Javakheti and head to Vardzia Cave Monastery, located at the bank of Mtkvari River. Today after breakfast, you will depart to Tbilis (160 km/100 miles, approx. 2.5 hours) and start the city tour. First, we will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi (Sameba), one of the tallest Orthodox Christian churches in the world. From Sameba, we move to Metekhi Plateau and Metekhi church built in the 5th century, located on the elevated cliff over the river Mtkvari and the old Tbilisi district. Next, we will move to Narikala, an ancient fortress overlooking Tbilisi from the mountain that can be reached by an aerial cable car form the Rike Park.

From Narikala Fortress, we will stroll down to the old city full of attractions and landmarks: National Botanical Garden of Georgia, Jumah Mosque, Legvtakhevi canyon and waterfall, ending with Abanotubani, the historical sulfur bathhouse district of Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
