Vice President of Yampu Tours Shares the Philosophy Behind “Thinking Glocal”
Leading Tour Operator in South and Central America Unveils the Motivations and Ideals Coexisting Within the Yampu Name
January 7th 2016, Monica Irauzqui, Vice President and Co-Founder of Yampu Tours is an expert in customizable travels in South and Central America, India, Asia, Africa, and Antarctica. She is a multi-awarded authority at designing themed itineraries including culinary, spiritual, adventure, and sightseeing tours.
Her Peruvian native husband, Jose Irauzqui, and her founded Yampu in 1998 now based in Stowe, VT. They started from a passion for travel and world discoveries to the idea of offering tours matching the exact needs of travelers. They also wanted to combine their goal of respecting unique local environments and traditions.
Yampu’s mantra is to act in consideration of glocal perspectives to make people experience more!
“Offering the possibility to travelers to reach their dream journey in a comfortable tailor designed accommodation combined with supporting the local economy is something we always wanted to do at Yampu,” declared Monica Irauzqui. “A passion is not one if you don’t live it at a 100%. I live vicariously through travelers dreams and I feed not only on their positive testimonials but also on the global and local success we bring to different communities.”
It was a challenge at start, but Yampu Tours continues to successfully participate in several initiatives to preserve ecosystems and endangered species by financial contributions as well as through volunteering projects. Encouraging travelers initiatives to ‘Pack for a Purpose’ for children in need in the Andes of Peru, raising funds to protect rainforests with the Rainforest Alliance or contributing directly to save elephants is what drives Yampu Tours every day.
This idea wasn’t just thrown to world’s destinations but is also highly rooted in Vermont’s socio-economical fabric by supporting local businesses and employment. We strive to bring awareness to local quality products with our customer reward program and we also participate in several seasonal association initiatives to help people in Vermont.
